Chicago is not just know as a city with many of public art sculptures and communities, but also know as a city with an incredible public library system.

The graphic shows the Chicago Public Library (CPL) is the public library system that serves the City of Chicago in the U.S. state of Illinois. It consists of about 80 locations, including a central library, two regional libraries, and branches distributed throughout the city’s 77 neighborhoods.

Within United States area, Chicago Public Library ranked at top 5 of the largest public libraries by total collections. “Total collection” consists of print material, electronic books, audio materials, and video materials, etc. Print materials include printed books, serial music, and maps, including duplicates; Electronic books include digital documents include e-books and digitized documents, including duplicates; “audio materials” include both physical audio files (such as cassette tapes, audio reels, CD-ROMs, and talking books) and downloadable units; and “video materials” similarly includes both physical video materials (such as videotape and DVD) and downloadable video files, etc. And within Illinois area ranked by volumes held, the Chicago Public Library is the second largest library system in Chicago by volumes held (the largest is the University of Chicago Library).

Moreover, Chicago Public Library offers 24/7 access to, eBooks, eAudiobooks, digital magazines and streaming music and video; Online resources for researching Chicago history, making purchase decisions, finding homework help; Digital collections showcasing thousands of images, documents and artifacts from CPL’s special collections. Besides that, CPL locations all provide a rich collection of books, DVDs, audiobooks and music; computers and WiFi; and newspapers and magazines. Each year, Chicago Public Library recommends the Best of the Best, CPL’s selections of the very best books published that year.
